Matheus Cunha criticised Manchester United’s energy levels after scoring a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Cunha struck in the 89th minute to rescue a point for United after Fulham had taken the lead.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Cunha said Fulham had shown greater energy than United and described that as unacceptable.

“They put in more energy than us — we cannot accept this.”

Cunha said United improved significantly after falling behind but questioned why the same intensity had not been present earlier in the game.

He said the level United showed while chasing the equaliser needed to be there “from the start” rather than only appearing once the team was behind.

The result meant United avoided a third consecutive defeat but left them with five points from their opening five Premier League matches.

Cunha’s late goal secured a point at Craven Cottage after United had struggled to turn their possession and attacking play into a result.

United will now prepare for their next fixture with Cunha calling for greater intensity from the beginning of matches.
