Manchester United have matched their lowest points total after five games of a Premier League season following the 1-1 draw with Fulham.

United have collected five points from their opening five league matches, equalling their previous lowest return at this stage in 2014-15.

Michael Carrick’s side have recorded just one victory during those five games.

The latest draw came at Craven Cottage, where United needed an 89th-minute equaliser from Matheus Cunha to secure a point against Fulham.

The result leaves United in the bottom half of the Premier League table and 10 points behind Manchester City after five matches.

United finished third under Carrick last season but have been unable to reproduce that form during the opening weeks of the new campaign.

Their five-point return now stands alongside 2014-15 as the club’s lowest after five matches of a Premier League season.

United’s next league game provides another opportunity to improve on a start that has produced one win from five.
