Manchester United are reportedly continuing to back Michael Carrick despite taking only five points from their opening five Premier League matches.
Club sources have told TEAMtalk that the hierarchy currently has no concerns over Carrick’s position following the draw with Fulham.
The report also says United have made no contact with Antonio Conte or any other potential replacement.
Carrick has come under increasing scrutiny following United’s difficult start to the season, with the Fulham result coming after defeat to Brighton.
Former United captain Gary Neville has warned that Carrick could soon find himself in “a lot of trouble”, while Perry Groves has predicted that the manager will not remain in charge until January.
The latest report suggests the mood inside the club is considerably calmer.
United are said to have no immediate plans to make a managerial change and have not begun approaching candidates who could replace Carrick.
That position is consistent with reporting from Fabrizio Romano before the Fulham game.
Romano said INEOS retained “total faith and confidence” in Carrick despite the disappointing opening weeks of the campaign.
Carrick also has the security of a long-term contract, with United’s financial reporting confirming that his deal runs until 2028.
The results have nevertheless increased the importance of United’s coming fixtures as Carrick attempts to improve a return of five points from the first 15 available.
For now, the message emerging from Old Trafford is that the club is not preparing to change manager and reports linking Conte with the job have not resulted in contact between the two parties.
