Manchester United are reportedly continuing to monitor Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell as the club assesses options for the position.
Football Insider reports that United’s recruitment team is keeping tabs on the 27-year-old, with his Premier League experience among the qualities attracting interest.
There is currently no suggestion that United have made an approach, opened negotiations or submitted a bid for Mitchell.
Crystal Palace are meanwhile reported to be attempting to retain the defender.
Mitchell’s contractual situation could make his future increasingly significant.
His current Palace deal runs until 30 June 2027, putting him into the final year of his contract, although reports indicate the club may hold an option to extend it further.
United did not sign a senior left-back during the summer despite considering reinforcements for the position.
The club made an enquiry for Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, which Newcastle rejected.
Hall has since confirmed that he was aware of United’s interest and subsequently signed a new long-term contract at St James’ Park.
The latest report suggests United are continuing to examine other options.
Mitchell would offer a different profile.
He has extensive Premier League experience with Palace and is already established as a senior left-back in English football.
Luke Shaw remains United’s principal experienced option in the position, but strengthening at left-back has continued to feature in reports surrounding the club’s recruitment plans.
Mitchell’s contract situation could also make him potentially more attainable than Hall, although there is currently no indication Palace are preparing to sell him.
For now, United’s reported interest remains at the monitoring stage.
There is no active deal, but Mitchell is another name reportedly being considered as United continue assessing their long-term options at left-back.
